Cape Central’s track meet at Parkway North on Friday, April 21, was a banner day for the Seabaugh brothers.

Senior Ryan Seabaugh broke the school record in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:26.95 and a first place finish. He is set to compete in college for Southern Illinouis next year.

Freshman Jackson Seabaugh ran the 1600m run with a time of 4:57.52, his first career sub 5-minute mile.

Cape Central saw three girls establish new personal records in the 800m race. Sophomore Aimee Caldwell ran a 2:39.07, freshman Heidi Hellwege ran a 2:46.64, and Junior Avery Koehler ran a 2:52.17.

Ki Bogan and Iniyah Rodgers finished in first and second place in the girls’ triple-jump. ZaiAire Thomas became the second male on our team to get an automatic qualification mark in the boys’ long jump after JaMauri Brooks-Davis did it at the Jungle pentathlon. Bryce Williams finished in second place of the event.

“Now the pressure is on for Williams, who only needs 8cm to reach the mark,” Central head coach Collin Sheridan said. Also to allow Cape Central to enter 3 for the district competition.

Breijon Clemons finished the boys 200m with a time of 23.03, setting the Cape Central freshman record.

The Tigers’ girls 4x200m relay finished with a time of 1:45.96, placing the group in the top 5 in Class 4.

Notre Dame, St. Vincent and Jackson competed in the DeSoto Invitational on Saturday, April 22.

Juniors Jacob Schremp (javelin) and Claire Otte (shot put) finished the highest among St. Vincent athletes, both taking seventh place in their events.

The Jackson girls’ 4x800m relay finished in first place with a time of 10:31.51. Senior Hunter Wendel won the boys’ 3200m with a time of 9:29.35. Senior Cole Puls won the boys’ 800m and broke two minutes by .08 seconds.

Notre Dame had a couple athletes take first place in multiple events. Junior Lauren Eftink finished in first place in the girls’ 1600m run with a time of 5:17.36. She also took the gold in the 3200m run with a time of 11.29.49. Senior Jenna Givens took first place in the girls triple jump with a mark of 35-07.25. The girls’ 4x400m relay finished in third place with a time of 4:21.17. Junior Jacob Brown picked up a pair of silver medals in the 100m (11.16) and 200m (22.68) race.

Notre Dame will host the SEMO Conference meet on Saturday, April 29.
