Due to inclement weather conditions, the All-Missouri Cancer Classic that Southeast Missouri State was scheduled to host Friday through Sunday has been cancelled.
The annual softball tournament that features all five of the state's Division I programs is rotated among the schools every five years, and this was Southeast's turn to host.
Southeast is looking into trying to host the tournament during the 2014 season.
The Redhawks (3-7) now will open their home schedule Tuesday at 3 p.m. against Harris-Stowe.
Baseball
Despite this weekend's cold weather forecast, Southeast is still scheduled to host Oral Roberts in a three-game series as the Redhawks conclude their nine-game homestand.
Scheduled starting times are 3 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
ORU, in its first year in the Southland Conference, won the past 15 Summit League championships to earn NCAA regional berths each season. The Golden Eagles, off to a 3-4 start, went 38-25 last year.
The Golden Eagles' 15 consecutive league championships is the second-longest streak in NCAA history. ORU's 15 straight NCAA Regional appearances is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation.
"It doesn't get any easier for us," first-year Southeast interim coach Steve Bieser said.
Southeast is 6-3, having lost three of four after a 5-0 start.
Cross country
Southeast's men's and women's teams earned All-Academic status from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The women's squad posted a 3.72 grade-point average during the 2012 season, the fifth-highest mark in the country. The men recorded a 3.48 GPA, which ranked 11th in the nation. Both teams led the Ohio Valley Conference in GPA.
"The first priority for our student-athletes here is to get a degree and move on to the next stage of their life," Southeast cross country coach Ryan Lane said in a release. "We put a priority on having well-rounded student-athletes and we stress academic performance. I am very proud of the accomplishments of our student-athletes."
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, a squad must have had a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
