Rain proved the winner in Monday's scheduled Class 1 sectional baseball games.

The Naylor at Oak Ridge game never got started. The game was postponed around 11:30 a.m. because of the threat of storms.

The game was rescheduled for 4 p.m. today, but the Oak Ridge field was wet before Monday's rain and the game could be moved to another location.

The Oran at Cooter game started early in the hopes that it could be played before the impending storm.

The game was suspended in the top of the third inning when lightning was spotted.

Cooter (21-4) threatened to score in the second inning when it had runners at second and third with one out, but Oran starting pitcher Zac Chasteen wiggled out of the jam. He first got Dustin Franklin to hit a grounder to third and the Eagles (21-2) retired the lead runner trying to score on the play. Chasteen then recorded a strikeout to end the inning.

Cooter's Patrick Ward singled to lead off the third for the game's lone hit, but he was erased trying to steal second.

The games is scheduled to be picked up at 2:30 p.m. today in Cooter, although the location could change because of field conditions.
