Delta defeated Oak Ridge 8-6 in the second round of action in the Oak Ridge Softball Tournament on Friday at Oak Ridge high school.
“Our girls battled and fought hard,” Delta coach Jami Carol Lacy said. “Every inning was truly a team effort. From two double plays and being aggressive at the plate, I think anyone who watched this game will remember this game.”
Trinity Vandeven went 3-for-3, including a home run and double, to lead the LadyCats’ offense.
Delta gained an insurmountable lead by scoring seven runs in the second inning. Addison Nichols hit a two-run double and Olivia Wagoner singled on the first pitch for an RBI to highlight the rally.
Wagoner pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out five.
Allison Seabaugh lasted 4.2 innings for the Blue Jays, allowing eight hits and eight runs while striking out five. Kinsley Bogenpohl came out of the bullpen to finish the game. Seabaugh also went 3-for-4 to lead Oak Ridge at the plate.
Delta will finish the round-robin event on Saturday with a game against Scott County Central at noon, while Oak Ridge takes on Arcadia Valley at 10 a.m.
The Bravettes lost to Arcadia Valley 14-2 loss on Friday. A solo home run by Brianna Seiler in the first inning was the lone bright spot. Brookelyn Sauceda also led the Bravettes with two hits in two at-bats.
