Top-seeded Charleston had no trouble with No. 16 Chaffee in Friday's first game of the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament, rolling to a 65-21 victory at the Show Me Center.

Charleston had 11 players score with only one in double figures. Marcus Biles led the Bluejays, ranked first in Class 3, with 22 points.

Charleston built a 22-2 lead after the first quarter and was ahead 39-9 by halftime. The Bluejays (8-0) coasted in the second half. Chaffee fell to 0-6.

No. 2 Central cruised through its first-round game against No. 15 Oak Ridge.

Central (7-2) allowed two points in the second and fourth quarters. The Tigers took a 37-point lead into halftime, 47-10.

Scott Chestnutt led the Tigers with 17 points. Larenzo Braxton scored 15, and Jake Knepp added 10.

Austin Hahs led Oak Ridge (0-7) with 10.

Scott City 66, Oran 47

No. 3 Scott City jumped to a 15-0 start, held off a brief rally by No. 14 Oran and then cruised in its first-round game.

Scott City's stifling defense helped the Rams (7-0) grab a 22-5 cushion after one quarter. Oran (1-5) poured in four 3-pointers in the second quarter to cut the halftime lead to 36-27.

The Rams outscored Oran 22-8 in the third quarter to put the game away.

Scott City's Mark Dannenmueller led all scorers with 20 points, 10 in the third quarter. Jeremy Schlosser and Tyler Ward had 12 apiece for the Rams, and Mark Johnston added 10.

Oran was led by Ryan Bouge's 16 points. Matt Seyer added 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

Despite the No. 13 Wildcats' 11-10 first-quarter lead over No. 4 Jackson, the Indians cruised to a comfortable opening-round win.

Falling behind after one quarter and playing with second-string players, Jackson (8-1) scored the first 14 points of the second quarter and outscored Leopold 18-2 in the period to lead 28-13.

Jackson widened its margin in the second half despite Leopold's seven second-half 3-pointers. A.J. Seiler of Leopold (2-4) led all scorers with 18 points, off of six 3-pointers.

Tyler McNeely was Jackson's double-digit scorer with 11 points, nine coming in the first quarter. Jackson has won eight straight since losing its opener to Farmington.

Scott County Central 73, Kelly 51

Chris Pullen may not have been able to match Bell City's Dominitrix Johnson and his 47 points, but Pullen's 33 points along with countless rebounds and blocked shots helped propel the No. 7 Braves to a lopsided first-round win.

The 10-seeded Hawks (2-5) led 15-10 after the first quarter, but Pullen's 11 second-quarter points gave Scott County (4-3) a 30-24 halftime lead. In the second half Pullen had 14 points and nearly 10 blocked shots. Daniel Holman added 15 points for the Braves and Andrew Pullen and Avis White had 10 apiece.

Chris Romas led Kelly with 10 points.

Bryce Willen scored 14 of his 25 points in the first half to help the eighth-seeded Bulldogs grab their second win of the season and advance to the quarterfinal round.

Notre Dame (2-6) led 38-19 at halftime. Ninth-seeded Delta (3-4) bounced back in the second half but did not threaten the Bulldogs.

Mark Unterreiner had a season-high 12 points for Notre Dame and Alex Ressel added 10. Zack Kelley led Delta with 19 points and Kevin Bartels had 14.
