Notre Dame's volleyball team continued a strong season with a win Wednesday night. The Bulldogs, rankedNo. 1 in the SEMOTop 10 poll, beat visiting St. Vincent 15-2, 15-6.
"We played our best game of the year tonight," Bulldogs coach Tara Stroup said.
In their first meeting this year, Notre Dame clawed its way to a 17-15, 17-15 victory. The Bulldogs had no trouble this time.
Ali Tyson had eight assists, nine service points and six kills for Notre Dame (17-2-1). Erin Pfau added seven service points, 12 kills and six digs. Sommer McCauley contributed 15 assists and nine service points.
Mary Beth Reiss led the Indians with four blocks. Danielle Schremp added three kills.
Notre Dame's junior varsity also won in two sets, 15-5, 15-9.
Chaffee 15-15, Oran 8-2
Jennifer Vandeven led host Chaffee to a two-set win. Vandeven had 13 kills, 11 points, and three aces. Mallory Kiefer and Molly Fowler contributed four aces and three aces. Ashley Graham added 10 digs.
St. Pius 15-15, Perryville 7-4
Casey Moll's two points, three kills and five digs wasn't enough for Perryville (4-13-3) to win at St. Pius. Amanda Bourtois had three points and two assists. Sarah Degenhardt had two kills and three blocks.
SOFTBALL
Perryville 4, Festus 3
It took Perryville two extra innings, but the Pirates came out with a win against Festus. With Amber Valleroy on first after a leadoff single, Kate Lowry reached on an error that moved Valleroy to third. Emily Tiehes delievered the game-winning single in the ninth.
