SIKESTON, Mo. – The Central Tigers volleyball team started Monday's match eerily similar to their first four of the season.

They fought for awhile, but eventually dropped the first set.

But then, something happened. More enthusiasm and celebrations after points won as Central lifted its overall excitement level to capture the second set and, eventually, a third as they won their first match of the season against Sikeston 22-25, 25-15 and 25-16.

"We stepped up and played as a team," Womack said. "We had energy and enthusiasm. Everybody seemed to be working harder."

The Tiger improved to 1-4.

McKenzie Bess led Central with seven kills, while Carly Hale added six. Emily Diamond added 15 assists, and Gabby Hulcy chipped in four blocks.
