The Notre Dame softball team had its best season in program history, setting a school record for wins (29) while finishing Class 3 runner-up in the program's second ever trip to the state final four.
The Bulldogs were honored for their accomplishments with three first-team members on the Missouri Softball Coaches Association all-state team. Junior first basemen Kristain Burger was recognized for the second straight season, while junior pitcher Beth Schnurbusch and freshman outfielder Erika Reinagel both were honored for the first time.
"I'm tickled to death to get three on the first team," Notre Dame coach Jeff Graviett said.
Reinagel, Schnurbusch, Kristain Burger, Paris Burger and Bailey Reutzel were also named all-region. Earning all-district honors were Reinagel, Schnurbusch, Kristain Burger, Paris Burger, Reutzel, Miranda Schlosser, Cortney Ostendorf and Heather Menz.
"I thought we were a little underappreciated last year, but this year I thought we got the respect we deserved," Graviett said.
At the Class 1 District 2 tournament, four players from district champion Bell City received all-district honors.
Sophomores Rachel Spears and Jessica Abner were joined by freshman Codie Lancaster on the first team. Andreia Wondel, a senior, made second-team.
District runner-up Advance was represented by first-team members Angela Broshuis and Stephania Jordan, along with second-team member Alicia Reeves. Carmen Duncan (first team) and Mandi Wood (second team) also made the team.
In Class 1 District 3, champion Leopold grabbed four first-team spots. Casey Bucher, Jenny Vandeven, Cassi Jansen and Cassie Seiler represented the Wildcats. Janice Jansen was Leopold's lone second-team member.
Meadow Heights was represented by Shayna Maevers (first team), Erica Wilfong (second team), Jenna Hahs (second team), Kyla Mouser (second team) and Kylee Shoemake (second team).
Shelia Fish (first team), Ashley Burchett (second team) and Chelsea Snider (second team) represented Zalma. Stacey Manche made the second team from Saxony Lutheran, and Amanda King was second-team from Oak Ridge.
In Class 2 District 2, champion Scott City had two players honored -- Kacie Ritter and Lindsey Amick -- on the six-player first team.
Scott City also had two players on the second team -- Whitney Tapley and Amanda Braun.
Leopold, Meadow Heights and Zalma each had two players make first-team all-conference in the Mississippi Valley Conference.
Cassi Jansen (Leopold), Jenny Vandeven (Leopold), Shayna Maevers (Meadow Heights), Erica Wilfong (Meadow Heights), Amanda King (Oak Ridge), Nicole Petzoldt (Saxony Lutheran), Shelia Fish (Zalma) and Chelsea Snider (Zalma) made up the first team.
Desiree Arnzen, Casey Bucher and Cassie Seiler of Leopold were on the second team. Jenna Hahs (Meadow Heights), Jessica Seyer (Oak Ridge) and Ashley Burchett (Zalma) completed the second team.
