SOUTH HAVEN, Miss. -- Wood & Huston Cape Junior Legion capped its weekend in the Mid-South Super Series on a perfect note as John Thies hurled a 10-0 perfect game at Long Island (N.Y.) Monday night.
Thies struck out five while not walking a batter and allowing no hits.
In the prior game, Cape lost to East Cobb (Ga.) 11-0.
Wood & Huston finished the weekend tournament with a 3-4 record and a 21-26 mark overall.
Wood & Huston returns to action Friday when it plays Chaffee at 5 p.m. in a first-round game in the District 14 Junior Legion Tournament in Kennett.
Jackson Sr. Babe Ruth
JACKSON -- Jackson's Senior Babe Ruth swept the Cape White Sox in a doubleheader Tuesday.
Jackson won the opener 20-4 and the nightcap 14-5.
Jeremy McCain got the win in the first game while going 5-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs. Rusty Duncan also went 5-for-5.
Doug Gross, the third Jackson pitcher, got the win in the second game.
Toby Freeman paced Jackson with a 3-for-3 performance and three RBIs.
