COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- SEMO soccer will have to wait a little longer for their first victory in school history, as Tennessee Tech's Golden Eagles defeated the Otahkians 2-0 Friday afternoon.

Tech moved to 1-8 overall with the win and SEMO, a first-year program, dropped to 0-5. The game did not count in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.

Junior co-captain Becky Lamb put Tech up 1-0 early in the game at the 19-minute mark with a shot in the box past Southeast goalie Beth Guccione.

Tech's Angela Freund, the 1998 OVC Freshman of the Year, scored her first goal of 1999 at the 40-minute mark when she connected on a short shot off a pass from Lamb.

Tech held the Otahkians to just three shots in the second half, while attempting 12 shots of their own. The final shot count saw Tech with a 23-9 edge.

Freshman Shelby Henry, who was converted to goalie Wednesday at Middle Tennessee, posted her first career shutout, making two saves. SEMO's Guccione stopped eight Tech attempts.
