The Jackson Freshman American Legion baseball team advanced to the championship round with a 7-4 win against Festus at the tournament in Perryville.

Adam Jones picked up the win on the mound. He allowed four runs and struck out two over four innings.

Chase Simmons collected three hits and drove in three for the victors.

Cody Heisserer, Kyle Best and Alex Bolen all doubled in the win.

Jackson won its opener, 7-4 against O'Fallon West on Thursday.

Heisserer pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to earn the win.

Joel Konenig and Bolen both had two hits.

Jackson plays for the title at 1 p.m. today.
