Jackson Babe Ruth sweeps Bismarck
The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team swept host Bismarck on Saturday, 7-0 and 11-5.
Chris Roth and Spencer Sander had big performances for Jackson (23-3).
Roth pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener, with seven strikeouts and no walks. He also homered, then followed that with three hits in the nightcap.
Sander went 6 for 7, with three hits in each game.
Andrew Minson added two hits in the opener, while Garrett Fritsche and Bryant Steffens had two hits apiece in the nightcap. Austin Mueller notched the second-game victory.
Post 63 earns road sweep
The Cape Girardeau Post 63 Senior American Legion baseball team's offense carried it to a pair of wins over Poplar Bluff late Friday.
Josh Henson earned the win in the opener, a 5-4 decision.
Levi Felter homered, while Dustin Crowden and Jamie Pickel each had two hits.
Post 63 trailed 4-0 early in the second game, but rallied for the 8-7 win. Adam Kelley earned the win.
Brady James smacked a three-run homer, while Crowden collected two hits. Jimmy Obermark doubled to score Crowden in the win.
Tyler Brant earned the save in the second game.
