The Ford & Sons Cape Girardeau Senior American Legion Post 63 baseball team hit two home runs and beat visiting Marion (Ark.) 6-3 on Sunday.
Cape's victory was part of the inaugural Ford & Sons Showcase at Central High School that featured seven games over two days.
Cape, which went 2-1 in the event, improved to 6-3 on the season.
Jesse Schott belted his third home run of the season and drove in three runs to lead Cape.
Stephen Brennan homered and doubled, while Brent Taylor added two of Cape's nine hits.
Ronnie Scott pitched the first four innings for the victory. He allowed one run and three hits while striking out four.
Logan Henson finished on the mound. He allowed two runs and two hits over three innings. He struck out two.
In other Showcase games Sunday, Paragould (Ark.) defeated Sikeston 5-4, Evansville (Ind.) downed Sikeston 4-0 and Marion beat Evansville 4-3.
Cape returns to action today at Capaha Field with a 5 p.m. doubleheader against Evansville.
The Jackson Senior American Legion Post 158 baseball team swept a doubleheader at De Soto on Sunday, winning 8-1 and 8-3.
Jackson (5-4) received a pair of complete-game pitching performances and totaled 26 hits.
Steven Eddy scattered 10 hits in the 8-1 opener. Alex Bolen and Ian Householder both had two of Jackson's 10 hits.
Joe Elfrink fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the 8-3 nightcap. Cody Harris doubled three times, while Elfrink and Kyle James both had two of Jackson's 16 hits.
Jackson returns to action Wednesday when it opens District 14 play with a 6 p.m. home doubleheader against Cape Girardeau.
The Plaza Tire Cape Girardeau Junior American Legion Post 63 baseball team swept a doubleheader with Scott County Junior American Legion on Sunday.
Trevor Prost struck out six and walked six to earn the win in the 9-3 opener.
Chase Eubanks went 2 for 2 with three runs scored, while Adam Pope added two RBIs and two runs scored for Cape.
Prost plated two runs with a double and a triple.
Layne Henson suffered the loss, while Zach Carlyle went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
Aaron Grainger struck out three and walked six in Cape's 14-4 win in five innings in the second game.
Prost went 3 for 3 with three runs scored, while Pope scored twice and knocked in one. Eubanks drove in three and scored three times for Cape (5-2).
Layne Spies took the loss.
Trent Pobst tripled for Scott County (2-4).
