One month after Henrik Stenson captured his first World Golf Championship, he looks as if he's ready for another.

In strong, steady wind that allowed the Blue Monster to live up to its reputation, Stenson made seven birdies on his way to a 5-under 67 on Thursday to share the first-round lead with Robert Allenby in the CA Championship in Miami.

Stenson won the Accenture Match Play Championship last month in the high desert of Arizona. The scenery shifted to south Florida, where blustery conditions and occasional rain that fell sideways put par at a premium.

"I just want to give myself a chance on Sundays to win golf tournaments," Stenson said. "The big events, the more you want to win."

Fifteen players in the 73-man field broke par.

Tiger Woods was one of them, but barely with a 71. Coming off a 43 on the back nine at Bay Hill for a surprisingly sloppy finish, Woods hit the ball as well he could have expected, only to have his putter let him down. He took 32 putts as the frustration mounted.

LPGA Tour

Catriona Matthew showed no signs of rust after taking a seven-month break from the LPGA Tour to give birth to her first child.

On a blustery day that must have reminded her of her native Scotland, Matthew shot a 4-under 68 for a share of the lead with Young Jo in the suspended first round of the Safeway International at Superstition Mountain, Ariz.

Lorena Ochoa and Mi Hyun Kim were a stroke back, and Beth Bader and Gloria Park were two strokes off the lead.

Seventy-two players were still on the course when play was suspended because of darkness. Rain and lightning delayed play for about two hours. Annika Sorenstam was 1 over through 15 holes when play was halted.
