Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko each had a goal and two assists to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets in the preseason opener on Tuesday at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Paul Stastny scored for the Blues at 10:46 in the first period before the Blue Jackets tied it up at 14:11 on a goal from Boone Jenner.
Justin Falk gave Columbus the lead at 6:20 in the second period, but Tarasenko tied the game at 2-all on a power-play goal at 8:55 in the second. With less than five minutes remaining in the period, Steen provided the game-winning goal on an assist from Tarasenko and Colton Parayko.
Alex Pietrangelo and Spencer Asuchak each added a goal for St. Louis in the third period.
Brian Elliott finished with nine saves in the net for the Blues while Pheonix Copley added 14 saves.
St. Louis returns to action Thursday against the visiting Dallas Stars.
