STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- St. Vincent captured the round-robin Ste. Genevieve Christmas Tournament Friday night with a 36-34 victory over the host Dragons.
St. Vincent completed the tournament 3-0 and improved to 5-2 on the season. St. Pius placed second at 2-1, followed by Valle (1-2) and Ste. Genevieve (0-3).
Ryan Brown scored a game-high 16 points for St. Vincent, including a pair of free throws with 38 seconds left in the game that broke a 34-34 deadlock.
Ste. Genevieve, which didn't have a player finish in double-figure scoring, got four shots off over the final 38 seconds but came away empty.
St. Vincent held Ste. Genevieve to eight points in the first half as it led 20-8 at the break. The Dragons netted 17 points in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 31-25 by the start of the fourth quarter.
Tyler Wengert added 13 points for St. Vincent, but no other Indian scored more than two points.
Bloomfield Tournament
BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Dexter and Doniphan advanced to the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament finals with wins over Twin Rivers and Portageville, respectively.
Dexter knocked off Twin Rivers 93-82, while the Dons slipped past Portageville 68-66.
In other Bloomfield games, Hayti beat Puxico 64-34; South Pemiscot beat Greenville 68-62; and Kennett edged Richland 60-59.
