St. Vincent dominated Van-Far 42-6 in the battle of the Indians on Friday, Nov. 10, in the Class 1 District 2 semifinals in Perryville, Mo.

St. Vincent (8-3) has now won six games in a row since starting the season 2-3.

"I think we did amazing," St. Vincent quarterback Christian Schaaf said. "Our line did everything we could ever ask for. The running backs were hitting the holes and were there to get yards. The receivers were getting open, and making plays. Everybody was working this weekend."

St. Vincent running back Cruz Reitzel scored the first touchdown of the game on a five-yard run with 2:07 left in the first quarter.

Then it was Schaaf's turn to find the end zone, as he ran nine yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter. The Indians scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take control of the game.

Reitzel scored another rushing touchdown to bring his season total to 17. The junior running back credited his offensive line for the success on the ground.

"The holes were there," Reitzel said.

Schaaf finished the first half with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Clayton Gremaud to give St. Vincent a 28-0 halftime lead. He later scored another rushing touchdown, this time for 15 yards, in the fourth quarter to push the St. Vincent lead to 35-0.

The Indians rounded out their scoring with one more touchdown to go up 42-0 with 6:19 left in the game. Like Reitzel, Schaaf also credited his offensive line for his success.

"The line gave me time to make my reads and make my throws," Schaaf said.

Van-Far scored their only touchdown in the final minute of the game but failed the two-point conversion to end the game with only six points.

St. Vincent now has the opportunity to win its first district championship since 2009 when it hosts the Crystal City Hornets on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m.
