IRONTON, Mo. -- Tyler Wengert escaped a precarious bases-loaded, nobody-out situation in the bottom of the seventh as St. Vincent held on for a 10-8 victory over Arcadia Valley on Monday in baseball action.
Arcadia Valley had already scored three runs in the inning, but Wengert recorded a strikeout, then induced a pop-up and a ground out to end the game.
Adam Bockman picked up the win, allowing four hits in four innings of work. He was followed to the mound by Zach Moll and Wengert.
Wengert also led a 16-hit attack by going 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and scored four times. Brandon Carroll and Ryan Brown both had three hits and three RBIs.
With the game tied 5-5, St. Vincent (9-10) scored two runs in the fifth and added three in the sixth for a 10-5 lead.
Jackson 1, Poplar Bluff 0
JACKSON, Mo. -- Lacie Hodo scored five minutes into the game and the Lady Indians held on as both teams went scoreless for the duration.
Kinze Turley assisted on Hodo's goal. Goaltender Whitney Werner notched the shutout for Jackson, which improved to 12-6-3.
"We had some real good opportunities with the ball rolling in front of the net. We just didn't tap it in when we needed to," said Jackson coach Zack Walton.
Jackson also won the JV match 5-1. Elizabeth Nussbaum led the way with three goals and Emily Curtis and Cammie Kaminskey had one apiece.
St. Vincent 3, Farmington 0
FARMINGTON, Mo. -- St. Vincent scored three second-half goals after a scoreless first half to defeat Farmington.
Beth Hennemann, Amy Wengert and Caitlin Hoeh netted the goals. Hoeh, Becky Kirn and Hennemann picked up assists.
"We had a lot of opportunities to score in the first half but just couldn't score," said St. Vincent coach Eric Long.
St. Vincent outshot Farmington 30-10.
Goalie Mindy Cattoor recorded her 10th shutout of the season for St. Vincent (13-8-1).
Perryville 7, Hillboro 0
IMPERIAL, Mo. -- Stacy Baer netted three goals as the Lady Pirates clinched the Jefferson County Conference title with a rout of Hillsboro.
Jamie Amberger added two goals and Brooke Winkler and Cindy Rhyne tallied one apiece as Perryville improved to 17-2-3 on the season. Ryne also had two assists.
