I am responding to the person who submitted the "Fan Speak" item who had a problem with Bob Gibson sitting in the dugout with the Capahas at the National Baseball Congress World Series.

Are you kidding me?

I played for the Capahas for 10 years. It would have been an honor to have Hall of Famer Bob Gibson in the dugout.

Keep the tradition going, Jess [Bolen]; and good luck to the Capahas in the future.

Big fan of the Nationals

To the Editor:

I have enjoyed reading your online coverage of the Heartland Nationals team regarding their journey to the Babe Ruth Softball World Series in Virginia.

I lived in Southeast Missouri from birth to age 18 and always enjoy reading about the good things that are happening at home.

My niece, Halle Woodfin, is a member of this team, and I congratulate her and her teammates on their successful season.

I am sure they are outstanding representatives for Southeast Missouri.
