Sportsmanship is a credit to Central, Notre Dame

To the editor:

In this day and age when we so often are ready to correct and criticize teenagers, allow me to salute both Central High School and Notre Dame Regional High School for the excellent display of sportsmanship, pride and athletic competition this past week.

Both schools displayed the fact that hard work, competition and spirit are alive and well here in Missouri.

Players, coaches, fans, cheerleaders, dancers, parents, faculty and alumni should be commended for all their efforts in making a crosstown rivalry not only well but also have great fun and teach life lessons. At that event we all left as winners.

So Central High and Notre Dame take a bow. You deserve it. Let us all take this opportunity to congratulate our only real future: the youth of our schools.
