SPORTS DIGEST: PERRYVILLE SOCCER TEAM FALLS IN DISTRICT FINALS

Perryville High School's sensational girls soccer season came to a close late Friday night as the Lady Pirates lost to St. Louis Notre Dame 1-0 in the championship game of the Class 1A-3A, District 1 Tournament.

The contest was originally scheduled to be played at Notre Dame in Cape Girardeau but was moved to Houck Stadium because of heavy rain.

Laura Gentry scored the game's lone goal, in the first half, as the Lady Pirates suffered just their fourth loss of the season. Perryville finished with a 20-4-3 record.
