SPORTS DIGEST: DEMOND PLAYING FOR HOOP TEAM IN CHINA

Drew DeMond, who will be a junior forward on this year's Southeast Missouri State University basketball team, is with the Sports Reach All-Star team that is playing a series of games in China.

DeMond has already played six games in China and has one more scheduled before returning to the United States Saturday.

The Sports Reach team is coached by Southeast assistant Tom Schuberth, who reports that DeMond has performed well.

"He's played really well against top competition," said Schuberth, who added that DeMond had 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks when the Sports Reach team beat an Australian professional squad in its first game in China.
