Baseball

• Two-time All-Star Ray Boone, patriarch of a three-generation baseball family, died early Sunday following a long illness. He was 81.

Boone's wife, Pat, said he had been hospitalized for six months following complications from surgery. Boone played from 1948-60 with six teams and was followed into the big leagues by son Bob and grandsons Bret and Aaron.

Basketball

• Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 17 points and six rebounds, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 104-88 preseason win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night in St. Louis.

LeBron James contributed 11 points for Cleveland in 22 minutes, going just 3-of-10 from the field. He had four rebounds.

The game, played at the Savvis Center, drew a crowd of 11,616.

Motorsports

• Helio Castroneves had a great restart with two laps to go after a lengthy caution and held off IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan to win the season finale Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.

While Castroneves got to climb the fence to celebrate his first victory this year, Kanaan capped off a season in which he ran all 3,305 laps -- the first driver in a major American series to complete every lap.

Kanaan clinched the series title with a runner-up finish in California two weeks ago. He finished outside the top five only once, and the Chevy 500 Sunday was the sixth time this season he was second across the finish line.

Tennis

• Anastasia Myskina and Nikolay Davydenko gave Russia a sweep of the women's and men's singles titles Sunday at the Kremlin Cup.

Myskina captured this event for the second straight year, running off 10 straight games to defeat Elena Dementieva 7-5, 6-0 in the tournament's first all-Russian final. Nikolay Davydenko saved three match points in rallying past Britain's Greg Rusedski 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 for his second title this year.
