For the second year in a row Southeast Missouri State track and field athlete Reggie Miller Jr. landed one spot short of being a second-team All-American at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The junior finished 17th in the triple jump with a jump of 51 feet, 4 1/2 inches at the meet, which was held in Eugene, Oregon. He reached that distance in his first attempt before faulting on his next two jumps.
He finished 17th in the high jump at the 2013 NCAA Championships.
Florida's Marquis Dandy's jump of 55-11 1/4 won the triple jump.
Jackson graduate and University of Missouri track and field athlete Jill Rushin earned second-team All-American status in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
Rushin, a junior who had the second longest throw in the country this season at 57-9 3/4 and was the SEC champion, failed to advance to the final of the event.
Rushin's best throw was her third and final of the day, when she reached a distance of 53-9. That distance placed her 12th in the event. The top nine advance to the final and the top eight earn first-team All-American honors.
