Former Southeast Missouri State cornerback Eddie Calvin was not selected in the NFL draft over the weekend, but Calvin did impress professional scouts during workouts following last season.
Calvin made enough of an impression on the St Louis Rams that he received an invitation Monday to their rookie minicamp this weekend at Rams Park.
"It's exciting," Calvin said in a release. "I have a lot of work to do and I'm just going to try to stay focused."
Calvin, a St. Louis native who completed his eligibility at Southeast in 2009, was a three-year starter for the Redhawks who also saw considerable action as a true freshman.
Calvin ranked second on last season's team with four pass breakups and tied for third with 66 tackles. He earned honorable mention Consensus Draft Services Football Championship Subdivision All-American honors before the campaign.
Calvin registered 203 tackles, eight interceptions and 36 passes defended in 44 games, including 33 starts during his college career. He also blocked two kicks and accumulated 566 all-purpose yards. Calvin left Southeast ranked tied for 11th in career interceptions.
