Southeast Missouri State University's first-year women's soccer team finally has the first win in the program's brief history.

The Otahkians used two goals from freshman Courtney Britt and knocked off Ohio Valley Conference foe Morehead State 2-1 Sunday afternoon in front of more than 500 fans at the Sprigg Street Field.

Southeast improved to 1-5-1 overall and 1-0-1 in OVC play. Morehead State fell to 1-10, 0-2 in the league.

Britt gave the Otahkians a 1-0 lead 27 minutes into the contest when she chipped a ball over Morehead State goalkeeper Jennifer Gordon. Nichole Thiele assisted on the play.

The Lady Eagles, trailing 1-0 at halftime, tied things 15 minutes into the second half on a goal by Sarah Haynes.

It remained 1-1 until just under 10 minutes left, when Britt scored an unassisted goal off a rebound.

Southeast goalkeeper Beth Guccione, the OVC leader and ranked 14th nationally in saves per game, was credited with 12 saves.

Sunday's contest marked the first of three straight home games for the Otahkians, who will take on Tennessee Tech next Sunday at Houck Stadium.
