The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team went winless in the Indiana Invitational. The Redhawks (1-6) went 0-3 on the weekend.

The Redhawks came from behind in their match against Mississippi State on Friday night before falling in five sets.

The Bulldogs won the first two sets 25-21, 26-24 before Southeast took the next two 25-19, 25-18. Mississippi State kept the Redhawks' comeback bid at bay with a 15-13 win in the final set.

The final set featured eight ties and neither team led by more than two points.

Freshman outside hitter Krissa Gearring had a game-high 23 kills and a .583 attack percentage in the match. She also had 10 digs.

Sophomore setter Katarina Rotta finished with 52 assists and 10 digs. Senior outside hitter Andrea Baylin and sophomore libero Jade Mortimer finished with 16 and 19 digs, respectively.

The Redhawks lost to host Indiana University in three sets in their first game on Saturday.

Southeast lost the first two sets 25-23, 25-23 and the final set 25-17.

Baylin and Gearring led the team with 10 kills in the match.

Miami (Ohio) swept Southeast 25-23, 27-25, 25-19.

Southeast soccer team tops UC Davis

The Southeast Missouri State soccer team kicked off the Falcon Invitational at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a 2-0 victory over UC Davis.

Junior defender Ashley Brendel scored her first career goal in the third minute of the game to put the Redhawks up 1-0. Sophomore Natasha Minor was credited with the assist on Brendel's goal.

Senior forward Breana Beine added a goal in the 69th minute for the final score.

Freshman goalkeeper Kindra Lierz made five saves and recorded her second shutout.

The Redhawks improved to 2-0 with the win and will face Northern Colorado at 3 p.m. today in their final game of the tournament.
