The Southeast women's tennis team lost 5-2 to SIU Edwardsville at the Redhawk Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Valeriia Nagovitcina and Melissa Martin earned singles wins for the Redhawks. No. 3 Nagovitcina defeated Monique Krutak 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 while No. 6 Martin beat McKenzie Thomas 7-5, 7-6.
No. 1 Valeriia Kashina, No. 3 Ekaterina Donetckova, No. 4 Kali Donner all lost in straight sets for the Redhawks while Southeast No. 5 Annisa Warasanti fell to Haley Ilcewicz in a tiebreak 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (15-13).
Kashina and Donetckova combined to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-5 over SIUE's Sierra Halverson and Krutak, but the Cougars won the other two matches to take the doubles point.
The loss was the third in a row for the Redhawks, who fell to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play, while SIUE improved to 8-8 and 3-3 in the OVC.
Southeast returns to action for another conference match at Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. today.
