The Southeast Missouri State softball team's push for the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship came up one win short.

Fifth-seeded Southeast lost to second-seeded Jacksonville State 9-5 Sunday morning in the title game of the six-team, double-elimination event in Charleston, Ill.

The Redhawks had forced the winner-take-all final contest on freshman Shelby Kuryllo's three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning late Saturday night.

That dramatic blow stunned the Gamecocks 3-2 and forced Sunday's if-necessary championship matchup.

This time defending tournament champion JSU finished off Southeast (31-30) as the Gamecocks (39-19) earned the OVC's automatic NCAA tournament berth.

The Redhawks went down fighting, scoring twice in the top of the seventh inning and having the bases loaded when the game ended.
