After beginning the season with a 1-3 showing in the Missouri Coaches Against Cancer Tournament in Kansas City, Southeast Missouri State's softball team will open its home schedule today.

Lipscomb, from Nashville, Tenn., will provide the opposition in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at the Southeast Softball Complex.

The Redhawks lost three of four games Saturday and Sunday in Kansas City, with two of the setbacks coming against 22nd-ranked Missouri, including 6-2 in Sunday's championship game of the four-team event. Saturday, the Tigers no-hit Southeast during an 8-0 romp.

Other tournament games saw Southeast beat Missouri-Kansas City 5-2 and lose to Southwest Missouri State 7-5.

Lindsay Pickering led Southeast offensively in the tournament, hitting .364 with two doubles, one triple and four runs batted in. Kelly Birk batted .333.

On the mound, Amy Fahnestock went 1-2 with two complete games as she allowed only three earned runs in 15 innings.
