The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team finished third in its tri-meet vs. Missouri and Lindenwood on Friday night.

The Redhawks posted a score of 192.300. The host Tigers won the meet with a score of 196.625 -- its highest team total since 2010 -- and Lindenwood was second with 194.000.

Southeast sophomore Alexis Brawner won the all-around with a career-high score of 38.75.

"I am pleased with different individual performances tonight," coach Kristi Ewasko said in a press release. "Alexis really shined with another strong all-around performance. We have deductions that need to be fixed, and we will focus on those at practice this week. I am looking for this team to start reaching as we head into the second part of the season. Adjustments will need to be made in order to fight for a spot at regionals."

Southeast started with a 48.250 on bars, led by junior Lauren Israel and Brawner with scores of 9.700. Missouri's Becca Schugel won the event with a 9.900.

Israel scored a 9.800 to lead the Redhawks in the balance beam on the second rotation. Southeast scored 48.025 in the event. Missouri's Britney Ward won the title with a 9.900.

Southeast posted a 48.600 on floor. Brawner and freshman McKinzie Jones each scored 9.775 to lead the Redhawks. Morgan Porter from Missouri's 9.950 was good for first.

Southeast concluded the night on vault, finishing with a 48.025. Brawner finished in a three-way tie for first in the vault with a 9.800. Missouri's Kennedi Harris and Morgan Porter each posted the same score.

The Redhawks compete in a tri-meet vs. Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan on Feb. 13 in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Track and Field

The Southeast track and field teams competed in a pair of meets over the weekend.

The Redhawks were in action at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational in Indiana and the Southern Illinois Don DeNoon Invitational.

Taylor Coffelt and Macy Ritter went 1-2 in the women's pentathlon at SIU with 3,428 and 3,153 points, respectively. Coffelt's 1.59-meter mark in the high jump was a new personal best. Ritter set a personal record in the 60-meter dash (9.58 seconds) and 800 (2 minutes, 40.60 seconds).

Sierra Maddox finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.56 meters. Dylan Rush was seventh on the men's side at 4.60 m.

At Notre Dame, the group of Jordan Brown, Cole Davis, Kameron Long and Marc Maton took second in the distance medley, setting a Southeast indoor record with their time of 9:55.52. The previous record was 10:00.71 from 2012.

The Southeast women also broke the school record in the event, finishing with a time of 11:58.34. The previous time was from 2003 and was 12:03.08.

Jarred Pasley took ninth in the 200 (21.89) and 400 (47.52). Several others competed but did not place.

Southeast is in action at the Purdue Fred Wilt Invitational on Feb. 13.
