The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team's score suffered a steep drop off at the University of Missouri on Friday night.
The Redhawks lost to the Tigers 194.125-190.900, marking a full three-point decline from the team's season high 193.900 in its previous meet.
"This type of performance is not what we train and does not show the talent and abilities of this team," Southeast coach Kristi Ewasko said in a press release from the Southeast athletic department.
Taryn Vanderpool finished second in the individual all-around with a score of 38.425.
Southeast returns home today to complete in a tri-meet against Alaska and the University of Illinois-Chicago, which, like Southeast, is a member of the Midwest Independent Conference.
"We are excited to get back home on Sunday and have an immediate opportunity to get back on track and fight for a spot at regionals," Ewasko said in the release.
The Southeast tennis team opened its three-match road trip with a pair of wins in Indianapolis.
The Redhawks defeated Bulter 5-2 on Friday. They won all three doubles points and the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles points. The doubles wins marked the first of the season for the team.
Southeast defeated IUPUI 5-2 on Saturday morning and will face Western Kentucky at 1 p.m. today in its final match of the weekend. The Redhawks are 3-2 this season.
The Southeast men finished second in the team standings at the SIU invitational on Saturday while the women's team came in third.
Jessica Brown won the women's long jump on Friday with a distance of 19 feet. Blake Carter won the men's long jump title with a distance of 24-8 1/2 feet.
Central graduate and Southeast freshman Chris Martin won the triple jump with a distance of 48-3 1/2 feet.
Tyler Holmes won the 800-meter men's race in 1 minutes, 57.31 seconds while senior Alex Zisser won the 3000-meter race in 8:34.35
