Southeast Missouri State's Molly Davis has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's defensive player of the week for volleyball.

Davis, a senior libero, averaged 7.36 digs per set during three matches over the weekend at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic.

The highlight of the tournament for Davis was a record-breaking performance in the opening match against Mississippi as she recorded a school-record 39 digs.

A four-year regular, Davis did not commit a single receiving error during the match as she recorded her second 30-plus dig match of the season and eighth of her career.

Davis followed with 22 digs against Georgia Tech and 20 against Clemson as she extended her streak of matches with double-figure digs to 29 straight.

Davis, Southeast's career record-holder for digs, leads the Ohio Valley Conference in digs with 183 for an average 5.55 per set.

Southeast (3-6) opens OVC play Friday night at Tennessee Tech.

Baseball alumni game

The Southeast baseball program is inviting all former players, coaches and their families back to campus for an alumni game during Homecoming weekend.

The alumni contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at Capaha Field. Introductions will begin at 6 p.m.

Those planning to attend should e-mail Southeast assistant coach Rick McCarty at rmccarty@semo.edu by Oct. 1.
