~ Southeast opens its season Aug. 30 at the University of Cincinnati.
The Southeast Missouri State football team named its captains for the upcoming season Tuesday.
Senior linebacker Adam Casper, who landed on the preseason all-Ohio Valley Conference team, is the only captain from the defensive side of the ball. He is joined by wide receiver Michael Williamson, offensive lineman Francisco Perez and fullback Clint Jones, all seniors.
Casper, a graduate of Anna-Jonesboro High School, led the Redhawks in tackles last season. He tied for second in the OVC last season with 9.8 tackles per game.
Jones led the team in receptions last season, catching 23 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. He carried the ball 12 times for 59 yards as well.
Perez is no starnger to the field. He started as a true freshman in 2004, served as a part-time starter in 2005 then started all of the 2006 campaign.
Williamson hasn't seen much playing time during his time at Southeast. But with coach Tony Samuel planning to use five receivers this season, Williamson should see plenty of time.
The Redhawks hold their final scrimmage of fall camp Saturday at 8 p.m. at Houck Stadium then open their season Aug. 30 at Cincinnati.
