After a solid showing in the 2024 Bob Sink Invitational on Thursday, March 28, at Jackson, Mo., Jackson senior Jack Hutson announced his college commitment to Maryville University in St. Louis. Hutson finished fourth in the 1,600m (4:48.98) and was part of the 4x800m relay (8:48.77) that finished third behind Hillsboro and Dexter.

After a solid showing in the 2024 Bob Sink Invitational on Thursday, March 28, at Jackson, Mo., Jackson senior Jack Hutson announced his college commitment to Maryville University in St. Louis.

Hutson finished fourth in the 1,600m (4:48.98) and was part of the 4x800m relay (8:48.77) that finished third behind Hillsboro and Dexter.

Fellow Jackson senior Bryce Gentry was the star of the meet when it came to distance running. He won both the mile (4:31.53) and two-mile run (9:40.00), both highly competitive races against Hillsboro runners. He beat Landon Pogue by a second in the mile and edged Gregory Mann by 0.83 seconds.

The Poplar Bluff duo of Darius Graham (2.08m) and Isaiah Nevel (2.03m) met the MileSplit US First Team standard after going first and second in the high jump. Graham also won both the long and triple jump to complete the sweep.

Blake Yarbro won the boys shot put (48-10.50) and placed second in the javelin, where he broke the school record in the javelin with a throw of 146’7.8”.

On the girls' side, Jackson junior Annika Barks won both the mile (5:17.86) and two-mile run (11:29.90).

Reagan Meyer was St.Vincent’s only event winner, taking the 400m dash with a time of 59.84.

The Cape Central girls relay teams won three of the four relays (4x100, 4x200, 4x400). Jackson was the lone outlier with a victory in the 4x800m.

Ellie Gerler was Perryville’s lone event winner with a first-place finish in both the discus (110-05.25) and shot put (32-03.00).
