Southeast Missourian Player of the Week: Perryville's Allison Moldenhauer

Perryville junior Allison Moldenhauer netted a goal in each of the four victories recorded last week by the Pirates that netted the title of the Hillsboro Invitational.

Moldenhauer, a forward, finished the week with four goals and four assists to run her season totals to 13 goals and nine assists. The Pirates built a five-game winning streak and improved to 8-3 with shutout victories against St. Clair, Central, Maplewood-Richmond and Hillsboro.

"She's got great ball sense," Perryville coach Jerry Fulton said. "She has good ball skills. I think, on the ball, with the ball at her feet, she's as fast as any girl I've ever seen. I think that's what makes her so explosive is her speed. You put a through ball, and she just outruns the defense."

Moldenhauer's biggest goal of the week came against Central, when she stole a pass with less than three minutes left in regulation and fired a shot from about 15 yards out into the net.

In the championship game, Moldenhauer assisted on teammate Alexis Sutterer's goal four minutes into the game and later added an insurance goal in the second half.

Moldenhauer was all-district, all-region and honorable mention all-state in Class 2 as a sophomore after finishing with 20 goals and 10 assists.

"She's very coachable and just a great player to have on the team," Fulton said.
