Central basketball player James Lane is the Southeast Missourian Player of the Week.

Lane scored a game-high 21 points in the Tigers' 58-48 victory over Notre Dame at the Show Me Center last week.

After trailing at halftime, Lane led Central's comeback in the second half. He was 4 of 4 from the field in the momentum-changing third quarter and helped fuel a 15-0 second-half run.

"We just came out with more intensity," Lane told the Missourian after the game, describing the second half. "Coach was like you can't come out all dead and stuff, so we came out and did what we do."

Lane turned in another double-digit scoring performance against the Perryville Pirates a few days later.

He scored 18 points in Central's convincing 70-16 win at home on the same day the Tigers joined the Class 5 state rankings for the first time this season, earning the No. 8 spot.

"We were going up strong," Lane told the Missourian after the victory. "We knew they were big, knew they were going to try and block it, so we just went up and finished."
