Notre Dame senior Quinn Poythress scored 21 points to lead the third-seeded Bulldogs to a 72-55 win over the second-seeded Central Tigers in a championship semifinal of the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament on Monday at the Show Me Center.
The 6-foot-7 Poythress is one of 11 seniors on the Notre Dame squad this season. He scored 19 of his points in the second half of Monday's game. The win advanced Notre Dame to Tuesday's championship game against top-seeded Jackson.
It was a game of redemption for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 53-50 loss to Central in the consolation championship of the SEMO Conference tournament.
