Sophomore Jake Byrd helped the Jackson wrestling team remain perfect on the season as the Indians captured the St. Charles West Invitational over the weekend.
Byrd won the 120-pound class with a 3-1 decision over defending Class 3 106-pound state champion Chandler Fohey of Hannibal.
The win helped Jackson to its first St. Charles West title in 16 years of participation. The Indians and Byrd also have won titles at Central's Tiger Classic and Ritenour's Ray Dowdy Invitational this season.
Byrd and the Indians also went 4-0 in dual meets last week. Jackson is 8-0 in duals.
Byrd (26-1) was a Class 4 state qualifier as a freshman.
