Bell City's Austin Hicks pitched a complete-game shutout in the Cubs' 2-0 win over Dora in a Class 1 quarterfinal last week at Bell City High School.
Hicks finished with 10 strikeouts and hit one batter while giving up four hits in the victory.
"I knew I had to keep throwing strikes and don't put the pressure on myself but put the pressure on them and make them come through," Hicks said.
Hicks also finished 2 for 2 at the plate and drove in the game's winning run. The win improved Bell City to 23-3 on the season and sent them into the state semifinals.
