Southeast Missourian Athlete of the Week: Advance's Preston Wuebker

Advance's Preston Wuebker hit two game-winning shots last week for the Hornets, who will compete in the Class 1 final four today at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri.

Wuebker netted a go-ahead 3-pointer inside the final minute to lead Advance to a victory over Gideon in a Class 1 sectional last Tuesday and scored the game-winning bucket to send the Hornets past state-ranked South Iron in a state quarterfinal on Saturday.

"It felt good," Wuebker said about Tuesday's game-winner. "Smooth."

The sophomore scored a combined 18 points in the two victories and is averaging 12.3 points per game this season. Advance will take on Meadville, the top-ranked team in Class 1, in today's state semifinal.
