OUTFIELD

G.P. Glueck

Team: Chaffee

Year: Senior

Position: Left field

Stats: .456 avg., 3HR, 37 RBIs, 3 triples, 26 walks, 10 doubles, 627 obp.

Notes: Returning all-stater with a good batting eye. A clutch performer who led the area in RBIs. A good, strong athlete whose pitching ability gave Chaffee the best No. 2 hurler in the area. Will play baseball at Shawnee Community College.

Andrew DePeder

Team: Notre Dame

Year: Senior

Position: Left field

Stats: .456 avg., 4 HR, 32 RBI, .734 slg., 8 doubles, 36 hits, 58 total bases

Notes: Not even a starter last year, but with a lot of hard work and determination, turned himself into one of the best hitters in the region.

Jeremy Lynn

Team: Chaffee

Year: Senior

Position: Center field

Stats: .450 avg., 3 HR, 45 hits, 10 doubles, 41 runs, 20 SB, 4 Ks.

Notes: Easily the best defensive center fielder and leadoff batter in the area. Perhaps the most improved hitter from a year ago. First-pitch swinger and good base runner. Gets great jumps on the ball in the outfield and has knack for making the spectacular catch. Will be playing at Shawnee Community College.

INFIELD

Garrett Cook

Team:Notre Dame

Year: Senior

Position: Shortstop

Stats: .462, 1 HR, 23 runs, .556 obp.

Notes: No one worked harder than O'Rourke. The senior known for his hours and hours in the batting cage, battled through an arm injury most of the year, not to mention injuries suffered in an auto accident. Will play at Maplewoods Community College, the juco that Cardinals rookie sensation Albert Pujols has made famous.

Adam Rainey

Team: Advance

Year: Senior

Stats: .509 avg., 4 HR, 26 RBIs

Notes: Only player on our list to bat better than .500. As a hitter, Advance relied on Rainey more than any team relied on one player. Was tough on the mound as well. Gives you everything he's got. Played through knee injury.

Tyler Wengert

Team: St. Vincent

Year: Junior

Position: Shortstop

Stats: .436 avg., 1 HR, 41 hits, 32 runs, 26 RBIs

Notes: Wengert put up big numbers against big schools. The only first-team selection who is not a senior, he could bat among the top three spots of any lineup in the area. Uses his speed to steal bases and stretch singles into doubles. Helped his team to the Class 1A Final Four for the second straight year.

CATCHER

Dusty Barrows

Team: Cape Central

Year: Senior

Stats: .385 avg., 4 HR, 26 RBI, 13 doubles, 21 runs

Notes: Barrows started on a home run tear. Power numbers tailed off, but remained solid all year. A good receiver with a very good arm, Barrows had the best overall year for the Tigers. Has signed to play baseball at Meramec Community College in St. Louis.

PITCHER

Matt Stroup

Team: Chaffee

Year: Senior

Stats: 12-1, 0.76 ERA, 122 Ks, 28 walks, 10.3 Ks/7ip; .453 avg., 1 HR, 27 RBIs, 7 doubles.

Notes: Numbers tell the story, but the bigger the game, the better he pitched. Not just a hard thrower, but knows how to keep hitters off balance. Struck out 36 percent of the batters he faced. Headed to Jefferson County Community College in Hillsboro, Mo.
