Southeast Missouri State track and field teams had a big weekend, winning 10 titles at the Jace Lacoste Invitational hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.
The women's squad captured six titles, five coming in field events.
Senior Brianna Egbuka, a Central High School graduate, was a double winner, capturing the shot put with a toss of 44 feet, 10 3/4 inches and the hammer throw (164-4). She also was second in the discus.
Senior Samantha Espiricueta joined Egbuka with two titles. She won the discus (129-11) and claimed her third straight javelin crown (138-10). She also was second in the hammer throw.
Sophomore Jill Schnurbusch, a Notre Dame Regional High School graduate, won her second career pole vault title, clearing 11 feet. She also placed fourth in the high jump.
On the track, senior Rachel Kahle from Jackson High School won her first 100-meter title of the year in a season-best 11.80 seconds. She also was third in the 200.
Freshman Courtney Gapelu gained runner-up finishes in the shot put and javelin while placing fourth in the hammer throw.
Freshman Emilea Old was third in the hammer throw, third in the shot put, fourth in the discus and fourth in the javelin.
Junior Angelica Larrier was second in the 100 and fourth in the 200, while sophomore Jerika Lewis placed fifth in the 200 and 400.
Freshman Erica Grajales was second in the pole vault, senior Monica Noble was third in the 3,000 steeplechase, junior Travon Beard was fourth in the 400 hurdles and senior Kasey Owens finished fifth in the 5,000.
Kahle, Lewis, Larrier and junior Magan Edwards teamed to nab second in the 400 relay.
Senior Brandon Colbert paced the men's squad as he won the hammer throw, shattering his own school record with a mark of 206-1.
Colbert tied senior Josh Uchtman for second in the discus Uchtman also placed second in the shot put.
Senior Tyler Terry, a Central graduate, captured the long jump (24-5 3/4). He also placed second in the triple jump.
Other winners for the men were senior Ed Draper in the javelin (179-6) and sophomore Jeff Wilfong in the pole vault (15-1).
Sophomore Jared Siemers, a Central graduate, was second in the hammer throw and fourth in the discus.
On the track, sophomore Alex Zisser and senior Chris Loseman garnered runner-up finishes in the 800 and 1,500, respectively.
Junior Nate Shipley was third in the 1,500, freshman Brent Collins was fourth in the 5,000 and freshman Anthony Crawford placed fourth in the 110 hurdles.
Southeast returns to action this weekend at the Mississippi Open hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss.
