The Southeast Missouri State track and field program had numerous notable performances as it opened the indoor season with meets at Arkansas State on Friday and SIU-Carbondale on Saturday. The Southeast Missouri State track and field program had numerous notable performances as it opened the indoor season with meets at Arkansas State on Friday and SIU-Carbondale on Saturday.

Southeast captured two titles at Arkansas State. Josh Uchtman won the shot put with a throw of  59 feet, 2 inches that ranks third all-time at Southeast, while Craig Robinson won the weight throw (62-10 1/2).

Freshman Kevin Farley was second in the shot put (53-9 1/4) while Robinson placed third (53-2 1/2).

Utchman took third in the weight throw (59-7 3/4) and Farley was fifth (55-5 3/4).

Notre Dame Regional High School graduate Jill Schnurbusch finished third in the pole vault (11-11 3/4) and Nikki Buchheit was fourth (11-5 3/4).

Southeast won three events at SIU, highlighted by Schnurbusch's 12-foot performance in the pole vault that ranks second in school history.

Magan Edwards won the 400 meters (59.12 seconds), while freshman Reggie Miller claimed first in the high jump (6-7).

The 1,600 relay team of Edwards, Jerika Lewis, Angelica Larrier and Travon Beard was second (3.56.05).

Also placing second were Lewis in the 200 (25.15), Brewer in the long jump (18-4 1/2), Larrier in the 60 (7.66) and freshman Curt Wood in the 600 (1.23.19).

Finishing third were Buccheit in the pole vault (11-1/4) and Jessica Brown in the long jump (18-3 1/4). 

"We had a lot of good performances. I'm very pleased how the weekend went, and we have alot of things to build off. ... We can't wait to get back to work after the holiday break," Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker said.

The Redhawks return to action at the SIU-Carbondale Invitational on Jan. 13.
