Southeast Missouri State throwers earn weekly Ohio Valley Conference honors

Southeast Missouri State junior Craig Robinson and sophomore Courtney Gapelu were named Ohio Valley Conference co-field athletes of the week Tuesday.

Robinson, who is from Hayti, Mo., won the weight throw at Saturday's Illini Classic with a toss of 59 feet, 9 1/4 inches. He placed third in the shot put with a distance of 52-2 1/4. He ranks second in the OVC in the weight throw and third in the shot put.

Gapelu, who is from Independence, Mo., won the shot put at the Illini Classic with a distance of 46-10 1/4. The defending OVC champion in the event leads the conference.

The Redhawks return to action this weekend at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind.
