The Southeast Missouri State softball team went 1-2 in the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Classic Scramble on Friday and Saturday in Hammond, Louisiana.

The Redhawks picked up a 10-8 win against the host Lions in Game 1 Friday and lost on 8-7 on a walk-off to Saint Louis in Game 2. They also dropped a 2-1 decision against UT Martin on Saturday.

Southeast held a 5-0 lead over Southeastern Louisiana after the top of the fourth and led 10-3 after the fifth inning.

The Lions plated five runs on six hits and an error in the top of the seventh, but the Redhawks stranded the bases loaded to secure the victory.

Freshman starter Madeline Krumrey (1-1) picked up her first win in the circle. She allowed eight runs -- five earned -- on 13 hits with a walk and three strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Sophomore Aubrey Denno allowed one hit before getting a fly out to end the game and get the save.

Left fielder Taylor McDannold and right fielder Alexis Anderson each went 3 for 5 at the plate. McDannold had three RBIs and three runs scored.

Southeast trailed 4-2 after three innings against Saint Louis in its second game on Friday.

The Redhawks scored four runs in the top of the fifth to go up 6-4 and extended it to 7-5 in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by catcher Chelsea Smith.

Billikens pinch hitter Hailey Weavers hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning to walk off with the win.

Denno, who pitched four innings in relief, took the loss and dropped to 0-1. She gave up four earned runs on five hits, walking three and striking out two.

In Saturday's game, Krumrey walked UT Martin's Alicia Hansen, which sent Carly Gonzales across the plate for the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

After the Skyhawks scored a run in the third, Southeast responded in the top of the seventh, when Leah Duffe hit a solo home run to right field that tied the game at 1-all.

Krumrey suffered the loss in the circle. She pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowed one hit and had two strikeouts and three walks.

Schilling got the start but was replaced by Denno. They each pitched two innings before Krumrey entered in the bottom of the fifth.

Gymnastics

The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team posted a team score of 192.475 in a dual meet at Ohio State on Saturday. The host Buckeyes scored 195.650.

The Redhawks posted identical 48.500 team scores on the vault, uneven bars and floor, but a hit a sour note on the beam rotation with a 46.850.

"Unfortunately, our beam team isn't hitting in competition like we do in practice," Southeast coach Kristi Ewasko said in a release. "We will continue to make adjustments in practice and expect the beam team to keep working toward making it count in competition. Overall, we had good routines and season-high individual scores tonight, and I'm proud that we keep impacting the record books."

Taylor Penzien finished second in the uneven bars with a 9.775, and Alexis Brawner was second in the vault with a 9.825.

Ashley Thomas finished fourth in the all around with a score of 38.225.
