The Southeast Missouri State softball team had its conference losing streak extended to 16 games with a pair of one-run losses at home to Murray State on Saturday.
The Redhawks sustained a 5-4 loss in the opener of the doubleheader and a 1-0 loss in the nightcap in falling to 2-20 in the Ohio Valley Conference and 10-34 overall.
The Redhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on Chelsea Smith's two-out, bases-loaded double.
Southeast starter Hannah Durham (2-11) held Murray State scoreless over the first three innings but was touched for four runs in the fourth as the Racers took advantage of three hits and two Redhawks errors.
Murray State added a run on two hits in the sixth for a 5-3 lead.
Southeast scored a run on an RBI groundout by Woodworth in the bottom of the seventh, but the Redhawks stranded the potential tying run at second.
Renee Terry had two of the Redhawks' six hits off winning pitcher Mason Robinson (11-8), who struck out four and walked one.
The Redhawks mustered just three hits off CheyAnne Gaskey (13-11) in the nightcap.
The Racers struck for the game's lone run in the fifth inning on a passed ball. Erica Howard, who opened the inning with a double and advanced to third on a bunt, scored the unearned run with two outs.
Keaira Schilling (4-15) was the hard-luck loser for Southeast. She struck out five, walked three and allowed six hits.
Shelbey Miller and Mo Ramsey both had two hits for Murray State, which improved to 30-21 overall and 16-8 in the OVC.
Gaskey struck out five and walked two.
Southeast concludes its season today with a 1 p.m. game against the Racers.
