The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped by an undefeated squad from the Southeastern Conference.
Host Kentucky defeated the Redhawks 2-0 in Sunday's championship game of the Tropical Smoothie Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
Southeast, which had posted three consecutive shutouts, fell to 4-2. The Wildcats are 7-0.
After a scoreless first half, Kentucky broke through about 20 minutes into the second half with a goal by freshman Molly Huber off a corner kick.
The Wildcats added an insurance goal with about 13 minutes remaining, scoring off another corner kick.
Kentucky held a 21-6 advantage in shots and an 11-1 edge in corner kicks.
"We're pleased with how we performed against a very athletic and soccer savvy team," Southeast coach Heather Nelson said. "Playing them will make us sharper and better prepared for OVC play."
Southeast sophomore goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon recorded five saves.
"They have very dangerous forwards and a dangerous attacking midfield," Nelson said. "Credit our defense. They only got in behind us once. Ashton is solid and our defense did a good job keeping shots out from a distance."
Aubuchon, junior defender Hayley Abbott and senior midfielder Vanessa Hart were named to the all-tournament team.
The Redhawks return to action Friday at St. Louis University.
Southeast sophomore setter Julie Shives was named to the all-tournament team at the Dunn Hospitality Invitational in Evansville, Ind.
Southeast (2-8) lost all three of its matches in the event held Friday and Saturday. Two of the defeats went five games.
"Julie played very well for us. She was great offensively and really helped spread the ball around and keep our offense flowing," Southeast coach Julie Folliard said.
The Redhawks visit Arkansas State on Tuesday before opening Ohio Valley Conference play Friday at Eastern Illinois.
