Notre Dame Regional High School graduate Jill Schnurbusch led another impressive showing by Southeast Missouri State track and field athletes over the weekend.
Schnurbusch, a junior, broke her own indoor school record in the pole vault while finishing third at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind.
Schnurbusch vaulted 12 feet, 1 1/2 inches. She originally set the record of 12 feet in the Redhawks' opening meet this year. She also owns the school's overall pole vault record of 12 2 1/2 set during last year's outdoor season.
Southeast claimed four titles over the weekend.
Winners were senior Josh Uchtman in the open weight throw (59-1 1/2), sophomore Blake Carter in the long jump (23-5 1/2), senior Chris Loseman in the men's open 5,000 meters (14 minutes, 54.07 seconds) and Jessica Bollinger in the women's open 5,000 (17:53.94).
"We had a very good meet. A lot of people improved their marks and their times, and we just need to continue getting better," Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker said.
Finishing second were freshmen Jacob Kent in the high jump (6-8) and Kevin Farley in the open shot put (55-4 1/2), while sophomore Alex Zisser was third in the 3,000 (8:34.91).
Junior Jerika Lewis was fifth in the 400 (56.83), and Magan Edwards finished seventh in the 200 (26.33).
Freshman Mohamed Souleiman placed seventh in the 800 (1:54.44), and Uchtman was seventh in the shot put (57- 6 1/2).
Southeast returns to action next weekend at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
The Southeast football program will reveal its 2012 recruiting class during a signing day party at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Port Cape Girardeau.
The signing day party, which is open to the public, will feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres. Southeast coach Tony Samuel will speak and show highlights of the new recruits. The rest of the football coaching staff also will be on hand.
