There will be some new additions to the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coaching staff after the departure of two of Dickey Nutt's assistant coaches.

Jon Cremins and Jessie Evans are no longer on the Southeast coaching staff.

Cremins accepted an assistant coaching position with the Kennesaw State University men's basketball program in Kennesaw, Georgia.

"I always encourage this for our guys to better themselves and chase their personal aspirations, and Jon Cremins had an opportunity to go back closer to home," Nutt said. "Kennesaw State offered him not only a good position on their staff but also doubling his salary. That's always a good thing. We he came in and asked my opinion, as much as I told him I don't want him to leave, I just don't think for a career opportunity standpoint you can turn it down.

"Jessie Evans decided to step down to pursue some professional opportunities."

Cremins and Evans had been on the Southeast coaching staff for the last two years.

"We wish those guys all the luck in the world," Nutt said. "We had winning seasons and those guys certainly had a lot to do with that."

Nutt said he does have some people in mind and hopes to have the positions filled or close to being filled by June 1 so that the staff is complete and prepared to recruit in July.

Nutt said that Sikeston High School graduate Will Holifield, who was a member of the team last year, was advised by doctors to not continue his playing career after suffering his fourth concussion, but he will remain with the program as a student assistant.

Leopold High School graduate Kyle Stroder, a guard, left the program and said that he is not planning to pursue other playing opportunities.

Stroder joined the Redhawks as a walk-on last season and saw limited action in eight games.
